Winter Project for the Miniature Garden

A great winter project is creating items for your miniature garden.  I love making gnomes and little animals for my gardens using polymer clay.

Start with any brand of Polymer Clay and be creative.  I also like to apply a clay glaze to my items to make them even more weather resistant.

Once you have your items formed, bake them according to the clay manufacturer's directions.

Freezing Fog

This morning we had freezing fog.  Freezing Fog is when you have foggy conditions and below freezing temperature.  When the fog comes in contact with an object that is below freezing temperature it forms ice.

Gardening Events for the Cold Months Ahead

Yes, I have been missing for a while.   With the craziness of the holidays, the flu, and then the cold weather gardening has not been on mind.  I wish I was old or wealthy enough to spend my winters somewhere a little warmer.  If you have the winter blahs like me, here are some gardening events to help get you out of your funk.

Garden Expo in Madison - Feb 8-10.  Tons of garden related vendors, workshops, and speakers.  I look forward to this one every winter.  http://www.wigardenexpo.com/

Garden Expectations Conference in Kimberly, WI - March 16. https://www.facebook.com/events/347960418632506/?context=create

Chicago Flower & Gardening Show March 9-17.  http://www.chicagoflower.com/
